Ronda Rousey will defend her UFC women’s bantamweight title on Saturday
night in Brazil against Bethe Correia in the main event of UFC 190. This is a grudge match as the two women have traded mean-spirited comments at one another over the past month. That trend continued at Thursday’s press event, per Damon Martin of Fox Sports.
It’ll all come to a head on Saturday night.
In the co-feature, Brazilian legends Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira will renew acquaintances. The two men battled in one of the sport’s most legendary contests when both were in PRIDE back in 2005. Rua won a hard-fought unanimous decision, but it was a back-and-forth battle.
Fans and the UFC are hoping Rua and Nogueira pick up where they left off 10 years ago.
Diaz can be seen throwing a drink at Nurmagomedov, who was at the event to corner his brother Abubakar Nurmagomedov and teammate Islam Mamedov, who had fought earlier in the night. Things escalated from there, resulting in Diaz being escorted away while another unknown individual attempted to rush the Nurmagomedov camp but was quickly wrapped up by security. WSOF matchmaker Ali Abdel-Aziz can be seen frantically rushing back and forth, trying to calm things down.
Judo (meaning “gentle way”) is a modern martial art, combat and Olympic sport created in Japan in 1882 by Jigoro Kano . Its most prominent feature is its competitive element, where the objective is to either throw or takedown an opponent to the ground, immobilize or otherwise subdue an opponent with a pin, or force an opponent to submit with a joint lock or a choke. Strikes and thrusts by hands and feet as well as weapons defenses are a part of judo, but only in pre-arranged forms (kata,) and are not allowed in judo competition or free practice. A judo practitioner is called a judoka.
