Do You Make these Mistakes? Judo vs. Muay Thai

What all Judo fighters Ought to Know when fighting a Muay Thai fighter.  Watch the video…

With MMA becoming so popular, it is more common for different types of Martial Arts to fight against each other. Judo and Muay Thai fighters are very often converting to mixed martial arts fights and both techniques lend themselves to be successful in such arenas, unlike Aikido, for example, where the principles were based on 1 straight full force attack in war.  However, as Bruce Lee once said in reference to his incorporation of fencing, wing chung, kung fu, fencing, dancing, and other martial arts to create his own world recognized Jeet Kune Do:  “Use what is useful,  discard what is useless and add what is your own”.  Thus, practice incorporating all of your own life’s experiences to adapt to the situation and create your own style that works best for you in Martial Arts.

Judo (meaning “gentle way”) is a modern martial art, combat and Olympic sport created in Japan in 1882 by Jigoro Kano . Its most prominent feature is its competitive element, where the objective is to either throw or takedown an opponent to the ground, immobilize or otherwise subdue an opponent with a pin, or force an opponent to submit with a joint lock or a choke. Strikes and thrusts by hands and feet as well as weapons defenses are a part of judo, but only in pre-arranged forms (kata,) and are not allowed in judo competition or free practice. A judo practitioner is called a judoka.
